For many months, we have been thinking about creating a day in which everyone can become aware of Baha’i human rights abuses. We approached our friends at
Iran Press Watch with the idea and we agreed upon
July 11 in order to mark Baha’i Rights Day, a day dedicated to support the human rights for members of the Baha’i faith.
We are working on developing content and more ideas to make this day as influential and effective as possible, however this is impossible without your help and participation.
How you can help:
Please inform your friends, family and colleagues that on July 11 they should tweet, blog, Facebook or create any material in support of Baha’i human rights everywhere, specifically in Iran where Baha’is have been severely persecuted against for the past 30 years.
Please use your influence to try and get as many journalists as possible to formally recognize this day and write about Baha’is in Iran or the remaining struggles of Baha’is in Egypt and other countries.
Please contact other bloggers and request that they dedicate at least that single day (July 11) to write about Baha’is and their rights.
Please tweet about it consistently on July 11 and use the #BahaiRights hashtag in order for people to locate. The idea is to make #BahaiRights a top trend on July 11.
If you are an artist, a website designer, a musician, or anyone with creative skills please create material in honor of this day and in the name of all the Baha’i victims around the world who suffered persecution and violent discrimination for decades.
Finally, you do not have to be a Baha’i to participate! Please make others aware of that. It does mean something that this day was created primarily by non-Baha’is who would like other non-Baha’is (especially Muslims) to recognize and act upon the abuse taking place in our name.
We rely on people like you to help make this day possible, despite the short notice. Please start spreading the word as much as possible through all your networks and mailing lists and let’s achieve this worldwide Baha’i Rights Day where we all unite regardless of our race or religion to support Baha’is everywhere!

we started inspiring some other twitter friends, and also bahai-facebookers to start some activities.
The influece with twitter friends start suggesting some “baha’i quotes” for post it. (or RT) Maybe it should help to get involve them into the situation, then, i hope all start to use #BahaiRights tag and make noise about all their followers.
With the Facebookers, planning to make some noise into facebook with quotes and notes… it shoul be amazing!

I understand why picking the 11th, but it’s a date subject to change if the trial isn’t that day or something. If I may suggest – July 24th (1908) was the day `Abdu’l-Baha (and all the Baha’is in jail then under Ottoman rule) were freed.
How about a day based on something that can be held up as an example, rather than the whim of the authorities?

July 11th would still be Baha’i Rights Day even if the trial date changes.
July 24th would have been a great date and we will definitely plan a little thing for that date as well, however we wanted something sooner to help generate attention for the trial and to help others become aware of Baha’i human rights abuses while the world still has its eyes on Iran.

[...] اعلنت الشبكة الاسلامية للدفاع عن حقوق البهائيين يوم 11 يوليو 2009 يوم حقوق البهائيين بايران والذى يوافق يوم محاكمة 7 من البهائيين بعد 15 شهرا من السجن بدون مبرر و بدون السماح لهم بهيئة دفاع خلال هذه الاشهر ويوصف القانون الدولى ما يحدث للبهائيين بايران بانه تطهير عرقى و genocid . وقد سبق وان قام عدد من المسلمين « مثقفون في إيران بتقديم اعتذارا للبهائيين الايرانيين”We are Ashamed منذ عدة اشهر تضامنا مع حقوق البهائيين. الذين يتعرضون الى اضطهاد منهجى منظم من قتل وعنف وتاميم اموالهم وممتلكاتهم بل وحرمانهم من التعليم واكثر من ذلك هدم دور العبادة والاماكن الدينية الخاصة بالبهائيين. ويقيم البهائيين بالعالم جلسات دعاء يومية الى هؤلاء المظلومين وستكون هناك جلسة دعاء على مدى 24 ساعة لمدة عشر دقائق بالتوالى فى العديد من دول العالم بدا من يوم 9 يوليو حتى 10 يوليو . واليكم ماكتبته الشبكة: [...]

انا اعلن تعاطفي وتضامني مع البهائيين القابعين في في السجون الايرانية دون وجه حق وان تهمتهم الوحيدة هي انهم بهائيين ولان عقيدتهم غير مرحب بها من قبل النظام الايراني. الى متى تبقى الانظمة القمعية تمرس التطهير العرقي ضد الاقليات في بلدانها, الم تعي بعد تلك الانظمة ان وجود الاقليات هو وسام شرف على صدور الاكثرية لانه دليل على تسامحهم وتعايشهم مع الغير
