A fine article, on balance. As a lifelong Baha'i, I never viewed myself and my religion to be in anyway superior to anyone or any religion. Baha'ullah emphatically admonishes that no one ever should feel or act superior to others, since, he says, we are all created from the same clay.
The only thing that I find to be perhaps different about being a Baha'i is that a Baha'i makes a conscious voluntary and well-considered decision to strive to live as closely as he/she can according to the high moral and ethical principles that Baha'u'llah stipulates. Thus, as I see it, being a Baha'i is a private conscious covenant that each individual voluntarily and without coercion makes with Baha'u'llah to to do his/her level best to live by humanity's loftiest standards. Egypt and other Arab lands have given the world a number of illustrious souls who have written annals of great uprightness by their exemplary lives. These individuals hailed primarily from the bosom of Islam. There is a tremendous spiritual bond between the two religions that transcends the walls of prejudice and disinformation erected by misguided or ill-meaning individuals.

Dear Amelia,

In my reading, the author uses the quote ("O people of the world ...") not to prove deviation but, on the contrary, to cast doubt on deviation.

Kind wishes, Martijn

The article is interesting, but has some fundamental holes.

The Baha'i Faith does not believe itself to be a "superior" religion as the writer expresses - that goes against the Baha'i principle of Progressive revelation: your grd 2 teacher is not "better" than your grd 1 teacher, she just teaches you more.

Furthermore, it is interesting that the writer has sought to prove what a deviant path the Baha'i Faith is, by using a quote that calls for world peace and unity...“O people of the world, ye are all the fruit of one tree, the leaves of one branch, the flowers of one garden and the drops of one ocean. Walk with perfect charity, concord, affection, and agreement.”

Those unity-bringing-peace-lovers! WHAT DEVIANTS! ; )

That's a good article. Thanks for posting it. The Baha'is are just the easiest target because they belong to a post-Islamic faith that doesn't exist in the 'charter' of 'recognized religions' by the State. But a lot of these 'Muslim' governments also persecute political dissidents, Christians, Jews, Atheists, homosexuals, artists, writers, etc.
