With clerics inciting hatred and violence from their pulpits, media outlets spreading lies and falsehoods, it was only inevitable that vigilante groups would increase their attacks against Baha’is as well.

The most recent incident (as reported by HRA Iran), which occurred in the early hours of yesterday, was the spraying of graffiti on Baha’i homes in Semnan. Some of the messages left included slogans such as “Death to Baha’is” and “Baha’i = Israeli infidel”.

Semnan has been a hotbed for violations and attacks against Baha’is. In recent weeks, the Baha’i cemetery in Semnan was vandalized, Molotov cocktails were thrown at homes, and there have been reports of arrests aind student detentions.
