They were taken to an unknown location. Adel Fanaian and Abbas Nourani, who are members of the local administrative body of the Baha`i community in Semnan, and Zaher Eskandarian, a former member, were arrested at their homes. Another Baha`i, Sahba Rezvani, who is also a member of the local administrative body, was arrested twenty days ago when security forces went to several Baha`i homes.
The three individuals arrested today had been previously arrested in 2005. In the initial trial they were sentenced to prison. They had appealed that decision. During the arrests today, the security officials mentioned that the appeals court had affirmed the decision, and that the sentence was now in effect. The judiciary has not yet made a statement regarding today’s arrests or the charges against these three individuals.
