Dear Friends,
The most sacred and most divine human capacity is the capacity to make choices. God is well capable of turning the whole earth into Baha'is in a blink of an eye. Nonetheless, now and throughout the human history, God Would not take the capacity of choice from humans even if they turn violent and abusive against his own manifestations and his own followers. So what are our choices at this time? We, as Baha'is choose to be peaceful even if this means sacrificing our life in this plane. Baha'is are sacrificing because they choose to do so. Sadly, most of the world confuse the strength of peace and kindness with weakness. The Baha'is can make any choice, be it in Iran, Yemen, Egypt or any other foresaken land, but Baha'is choose the love of humanity for the love of God. For this reason I agree with Behroos, except that it is because of our choices that spring has always been here, and will always be here.
What are the choices of our Muslim sisters and brothers in Iran, Egypt and Yemen? They transgress God's love for them. First if they read the Holy Quran correctly they will see that God is a God of Mercy not of violence and abuse. It has been said that every verse begins with the phrase "In The Name of God The All Merciful, The All Bountiful" because God (Allah) created everything by His Mercy, so that without God's Mercy nothing would exist. Secondly, it seems that our Muslim sisters and brothers in those lands seem to think they are protecting Islam with their actions, as if God, The All Powerful is incapable of protecting His Faith. For this, one can only feel sory for them and asks God's Mercy for their souls.
Nevertheless, when a woman charged at Baha'u'llah He asked the guard to let her do what she is doing because she believes she is doign what is right and good. We must believe that our Muslim sisters and brothers in those lands are doing what they think will bring them happiness. Soon they, or the majority of them, will realise that in those actions there is suffering for them and not happiness, which will make their choice twist and change towards the love of God and of humanity. It is not a prophecy, it is simply a natural consequence based on a basic human nature, which is good. Perhaps this is why choice is so sacred, it allows us to grow as humans and realise the goodness and purity that God Created in us.
God is The All Glorious... Ya Bahau'lAbha

The union of my father a Baha'i and my mother a Muslim were three children of who I was the youngest. In our village, Khoosf, quite a few families were all or like us partly known to be Baha'i s .I don't remember much of the things that went on around us while I was a child. But I had this reoccurring nightmare that kept on disturbing my sleep for many years. one day when I was about 15 years of age my mother talked of the difficult times during my childhood. A certain Mula known as Falsavi has incited people against Baha'is. Some ignorant people under the cover of the night have been bombarding our house with stones for several nights. Some of these stones after shattering windows had entered our bedrooms and been the cause of injuries to our family. My mother in order to protect her youngest child from the stones, would have rapped me in a small carpet.
Was the rolling of the carpet the cause of my nightmare or was it the verdict of that Mula or was it the response of the ignorants? I think the innocent carpet.
Today another Mula has spoken and I feel relived that he is calling Muslims to be merciful. I am now counting the flowers, it appears the spring may be a reality after all, for flowers are blooming one after the other.l

Being an American Baha'i, I don't, yet, have to be concerned for suppression of my Faith. Thee could still be much darker days ahead for "safe" Western Baha'is!

Thank you for sharing this essay!!

Even though Muhammad and Baha'u'llah are One in essence, I could see them smiling at each other because of the faith of this cleric and this lawyer...

As a Baha'i, I avoid politics like the plague. I shall not comment on Montazeri's politics, but I will say that in his person I am struck by his willingness to sacrifice the things of this world for the convictions of his faith. It is truly a noble quality, and one for which I am quite grateful.

As for Mrs. Ebadi, such a courageous soul suffering horrible slander for the sake of Justice will surely be rewarded by God, regardless of whether she's a Baha'i or not. "Put thou thy trust in God, for God
loveth those who trust in Him."

As to those who have attacked Mrs. Ebadi and Grand Ayatollah Montazeri, I shall quote the Quran in regards to them as well: "they who shall affront believing men and believing women, for no fault of theirs, they shall surely bear the guilt of slander, and of a clear wrong."

And lastly, in regards to the charges against Mrs. Ebadi:

"O believers! when ye go forth to the fight for the cause of God, be
discerning, and say not to every one who meeteth you with a greeting, 'Thou art not a believer' in your greed after the chance good things of this present life! With God are abundant spoils. Such hath been your wont in times past; but God hath been gracious to you. Be discerning, then, for God well knoweth what ye do."

May God's grace be upon you all!
