Comic against the arbitrary arrests

May 26th, 2008

Censeo, a platform that hosts comics in an effort to “re-examine truth”, recently featured a comic that touches upon the plight of Baha’is in Iran.

Throughout the years, Bahai’s have suffered through and endured the hurling of baseless charges at them. This gross abuse against their human rights is intolerable and must be brought to an end!

Whoa. Cool stuff. Humor is a good way to look at these things some times. All governments are like this. Look at the Iraq war.

very good cartoon, highlighting a very serious situation! the recent string of arrests is quite disturbing…..hopefully this isn’t a sign that the iran government is going back to the times when baha’is and other minorities were severely persecuted.

I’ve joked around about getting a T-shirt that says “The Baha’i Faith: spying for Israel since 1853″

Problem is most folks wouldn’t get the joke.

Although it is sometimes good to have comic relief on serious subjects, in this case those of the Bahá’í faith who have recently been arrested are more than likely being tortured as you read this. For no other reason than the fact they are Bahá’ís and considered a threat to the current regime in Iran. Since the basic Bahá’í principle is - the Unity of Mankind – it would seem that to take sides with anyone, would defeat the purpose of that principle.

I have much more pity for the persons who will have to account to God for having done such a thing, frankly.

But you’re right. It’s a dangerous thing to make light of atrocities, even if the premise for them is absurd.

    Bob,

I think the cartoon is great! We should be happy that more people are speaking out on behalf of the Bahais using different formats and medias.
Seriously, I think the cartoon does a great job in telling the story and its not even exaggerated.

The cartoon is great in portraying the issue and I don’t see it as taking sides. Thanks for posting it!

Peter, hilarious comment … but I agree. Unfortunately such a T-shirt will not be understood by most people. Still, simply hilarious!!!
