		<description>Thank you for this posting.  It is amazing that Afgan Baha&#039;is survived the persecutions first by the Communist government and then by the Taliban.  If there is any message here to some of the Middle Eastern governments, it is as follows: you may persecute the Baha&#039;is, you may torture them, you may deprive them of their human and civil rights but that will not achieve your aim or eradicating the Baha&#039;i Faith in your country.  Beliefs that are engraved in the hearts of people do not change because of persecution or pressure.  Otherwise, all the major religions such as Judaism, Christianity, or Islam would never have taken hold.  

I also enjoyed reading the more complete story about Egypt&#039;s role in the recognition of the Baha&#039;i Faith at the link that Bilo provided.  http://bahai-egypt.blogspot.com includes several glimpses of the suffering of Egyptian Baha&#039;is that continues to this day.</description>
