What is the Baha’i Faith?

There are many people, especially Muslims, who don’t know what the Baha’i faith is (and despite that some continue to discriminate against them). Here are some guides to introduce those not familiar with the religion.

The International website of the Baha’i faith: This site is an extensive one that provides a full guide to the religion, latest news of Baha’i events worldwide, and helpful research tools to help you understand the faith and its followers better. Click here if you want a very direct answer to “What is the Baha’i Faith?” and you will find much more on the site’s informative FAQ page.

Baha’i faith on Wikipedia: This is another guide that is useful for those wanting an introduction. Individual categories within the article allow readers to find what they want with ease. It also provides a lot of extra information for those who want to learn more.

BBC profile: This is a good source for those wanting to learn more about the Baha’i culture and society.

For endless other sources, run a quick Google search and you will hopefully find what you want to know about the religion.

No words can express the gratitude we feel towards your efforts for justice. Justice is one of the core values in all Religions, and to practice it not only makes you a better person, but it also shows the whole world the true heart and purpose of Religions.

Please tell me if there is anything we can do to help you.

In Baha’u'llah’s words:
” O SON OF SPIRIT! The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice; turn not away therefrom if thou desirest Me, and neglect it not that I may confide in thee. By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbor. Ponder this in thy heart; how it behooveth thee to be. Verily justice is My gift to thee and the sign of My loving-kindness. Set it then before thine eyes.”

This site is not a bona fide Muslim pro-Bahai site. No real Muslim would be supporting the Zionist cult of Bahaism. This site is created and maintained by the Internet Committee of the Bahai administration deceptively trying to make people believe it is real. It is not.

Congratulations on this much needed voice for freedom and human rights. One does not have to be a Baha’i to defend everyone’s right to worship freely without being forced to deny their beliefs or lie in official documents. Your blog is a beacon of light that shines through the darkness of persecution, ignorance, and prejudice.

In spite of the fact that there are some who are angered at the mere sight of a fellow Musilim being tolerant of a different phylisophical position..

I must applaud the person’s curage in the face of absolute cowardice on the part of other musilims….

keep up the good work!!!

While reviewing the comment section on this new site I noticed that some were from Baha’is who were quite ecstatic about the site, even offering to help with it, while others attacked it and even [wrongly] accused the site of being deceptively created by Baha’i internet agencies, and describing them as “Zionist cult of Bahaism.”

It is critical to clearly and emphatically point out here that this new site “The Muslim Network for Baha’i Rights” was created and maintained by an entirely independent group of Muslims who believe in the true essence of Islam and who want to promote acceptance, tolerance and harmony between all people regardless of their religion, race or ethnicity.

Let there be no doubt that this site has NO connection whatsoever, in the original idea of its creation or its maintenance, to any Baha’is or Baha’i Institutions or Agencies. It was however stated in one of the comments that the idea for the site was inspired by material available on another blog.

Even though it is natural to be tempted to offer help when agreeing with the published material, the authors of the site should be left alone in maintaining the site, gathering material and publishing information on it. This would ensure and guarantee its integrity, its credibility and its reliability.

bilo,

I came from a Hindu background. For many years I grewu up with a strong prejudice against Islam. It was Baha’u'llah who instilled in me the love and respect for Prophet Muhammad (pbuH) and all the previous Messengers of Allah.
May the initiators of this site be blessed by the Almighty for their sincere efforts.

What a wonderful project – It makes my respect for Islam and Muhammad (pbuh)
grow ever stronger. We are all surely Allahs creation and we are all brothers and sisters of one family – thank you so much

i can’t see why people are so blinded by their intolerance. “zionist cult of bahaism” ???
we should support such initiative to promote tolerance and open our hearts, i can’t believe people can hate each other so much just because they have different religions.

To any rational-minded person, of any religious background–how can such divergent viewpoints and arduous persecution not compel an honest, forthright examination of this affair?

The Iranian government denies its persecution of Baha’is despite all evidence to the contrary. No record exists of Baha’is meeting this oppression with violence. It is remarkable–indeed unparalleled in modern history–that anyone would willingly and serenely accept death without struggle before renouncing their beliefs, yet it’s happened repeatedly.

What does that say about the nature of these beliefs? What makes them worth dying for?

It is uncommon and nothing short of praiseworthy that Muslims now shed light on the atrocities taking place in Iran–abundant proof that we all strive the same thing: the truth, unfettered by veils of propoganda and discrimination. In the U.S., Muslims themselves have come under attack as terrorists–the sorrowful result of a few misguided souls–when the majority of Islam revere peace above all.

May God bless this initiative, and may it engender further compassion and understanding among the human race.

Thomas,
Additionally, Egyptian Baha’is are being denied their ID cards and all their citizenship rights simply because of their religion…that did not deter them from affirming their belief even in the face of total isolation and their inability to obtain employment, education, health care, etc….

The Egyptian authorities have been trying, without any success, to force the Baha’is to lie about their religion on official documents (thus violating their own laws) in order to obtain ID cards!

Bismillah,

Dear brother Ahmad,

It is apparent that you are uninformed. The Baha’i scriptures strictly forbid the Baha’is from engaging in surreptitious methods, partisan political activity, and the support of state politics of any nation. It would be totally anathema for any Baha’i institutions or individuals to falsely create a website such as this. That Muslims have done so is a credit to their understanding that Allah – may He be praised – is the merciful, filled with grace, the all-loving, just.

The reason for the Baha’i world center being in Israel is one of historic circumstance. The authorities of Iran and the Ottoman Empire exiled Baha’u'llah in 1868 to Akko in what was the province of “Syria.” Do not some holy sites of Islam reside in Jerusalem?

The Holy Qur’an, in multiple translations, has an honored place on my shelves. I teach it to westerners who have rejected Islam because of what they see. May I suggest that you look at two books by Seyyed Hossein Nasr – “The Heart of Islam” and the forthcoming “The Garden of Truth.” These explain, in a deeply spiritual and harmonious way, the spiritual essence of Islam.

“And so whenever there comes unto them any fresh reminder from thje Most Gracious, they who are blind of heart always turn their backs upon it.” (26:5). “Fully aware are We of what they do say; and thou canst by no means force them to believe. Yet nonetheless, remind, through this Qur’an, all such as may fear My warning.” (50:45). And “God is the light of the heavens and the earth” (24:35). He who has eyes to see will behold the divine light wherever it shines.

Salam.

Bahais in My Backyard, watch it and then talk on behalf of the “rights” of this group of New World Order fascists who systematically deny it to others:

GIven the above, the policies of the Egyptian and Iranian governments towards this organization are sound and well implimented.

Ahmad,

I think it is you who is the deceptor. Perhaps you are in the pocket of some propaganda committee in Iran or Egypt. How do we know you are not some intelligence officer keeping an eye on people? Come on man, say something productive. All you speak is venom.

[...] know what the Baha’i faith is to begin with? You can always read up on it. You can read all the articles we covered on the Baha’i faith [...]

While we do not wish to limit conversations in any way, please note that insulting/abusive comments will be removed without hesitation.
